What was it about?
This is a world divided by blood - red or silver. The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change. That is until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power. Fearful of Mare's potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime. But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance - Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart.
My opinion: One of my favorite book because it is different from another book that I read. It can be quite 'heavy' because it made up a new universe in your mind so, you have to imagine how this ‘new world’ works. The language used by the author is simple and easy to understand but fair warning, you will always find a new terms or words in this type of genre.
I read this book twice and I find it more enjoyable the second times around. Maybe because I understand the world better the second time. This book will be so hard to put down towards the end it just so nerve-racking! I was losing sleep because it just so much fun to read. This book have a perfect balance between action, romance and family relationship.
This book have an unexpected ending and it. Will. Blow. Your. Mind. I spend the next few hours after reading this book asking myself what the hell??? If you know me, you know that I love unexpected ending and this book gave me just that!
“Rise, red as the dawn.”
I don't put another popular quote here because it will ruin the plot for you. This book also a series, the sequel after Red Queen is Glass Sword, King's Cage and War Storm. I will definitely will buy the whole series.
Who will enjoy this book?
I recommend this book for those who enjoy Hunger Games series, Harry Potter Series and Maze Runner Series due to the same genre between these books with the Red Queen series. People who have a good imagination, doesn't have any problems with a new weird terms and some action-packed story.
Who will not enjoy this book?
People who just started reading because this book can be a little bit 'heavy' but you can try if you want. If you don't enjoy reading action, this book is not for you. It is also not for people who doesn't enjoy ready about gruesome death and etc.
Rating: I give it 4.8/ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
